Last updated: 2 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Missperception (“we”, “us”) collects and uses personal data when you visit missperception.co.uk, subscribe to updates, or interact with our official channels. We process data in accordance with UK data protection law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Data controller
Controller: Angela Jarvis (trading as Missperception), Yorkshire, United Kingdom
Correspondence: hello@missperception.co.uk (full postal address available on request for legal and data-protection enquiries)
Press: press@missperception.co.uk
2. What data we collect
Depending on how you use our services, we may process:
- Contact data — email address when you join the mailing list or contact us;
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, device information, and server logs when you visit the site;
- Usage data — pages viewed and referral source, if analytics are enabled;
- Communications — content of emails you send us;
- Social interactions — comments, messages, or engagement on platforms where we maintain official accounts (processed under those platforms’ policies).
We do not knowingly collect special category data (e.g. health, ethnicity) through this website.
Providing personal data (for example your email address) is voluntary. If you choose not to provide it, you may still browse the site but may not receive mailing-list updates or personal replies to enquiries.
3. How we collect data
- Mailing list — you submit your email via our subscribe forms (processed via Buttondown);
- Email contact — you write to us directly;
- Website visit — automatically via hosting and essential technical logs;
- Social platforms — when you interact with @missperception1, missperception.official, or other official profiles.
4. Lawful bases
- Consent — mailing-list subscription and optional marketing emails (you may withdraw consent anytime);
- Legitimate interests — operating and securing the website, understanding audience reach, and promoting releases in a proportionate way that does not override your rights;
- Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose data to comply with law.
5. How we use data
- send release updates and news you have asked to receive;
- respond to enquiries and press requests;
- maintain, protect, and improve the website;
- publish promotional content on official social accounts;
- establish, exercise, or defend legal claims relating to our intellectual property.
We do not sell your personal data.
6. Sharing and processors
We share data only where necessary with trusted service providers, including:
- Buttondown — mailing-list delivery and management;
- Website hosting — server infrastructure and security logs;
- Social platforms — TikTok, Meta (Facebook/Instagram), YouTube, and others when you engage with us there or when we publish content;
- Social posting tools — OAuth tokens and account identifiers used only to publish content to official Missperception accounts we control (not to harvest fan data).
Processors act on our instructions and under appropriate agreements. Streaming and distribution partners (e.g. Ditto, DSPs) have their own privacy policies when you use their services via our links. To request deletion of data we hold, see our Data Deletion Instructions.
7. International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where this occurs, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognised under UK law (such as adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses).
8. Retention
- Mailing list — until you unsubscribe, plus a short suppression record to honour opt-out;
- Enquiry emails — typically up to 24 months unless a longer period is needed for legal or business records;
- Server logs — typically up to 90 days unless required for security investigation.
9. Your rights
We do not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.
Under UK GDPR you may have the right to:
- access a copy of your personal data;
- rectify inaccurate data;
- erase data (in certain circumstances);
- restrict or object to processing;
- data portability (where processing is based on consent or contract and carried out by automated means);
- withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior lawful processing).
To exercise rights, email hello@missperception.co.uk. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
10. Cookies and similar technologies
Our site may use essential cookies required for basic operation and security. Pages load self-hosted stylesheets and fonts to display the site correctly. We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. If we enable analytics or embedded media, additional cookies may be set by those services. You can control non-essential cookies through your browser settings. Where required, we will present a cookie choice before non-essential tracking is activated.
11. Children
Our website and mailing list are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. No online transmission is completely secure; you provide information at your own risk.
13. Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date will change. Material changes to mailing-list processing will be communicated where appropriate.
